Life Group Description

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
– Hebrews 10:24, 25
The purpose of the Life Groups at Heartland Community Church is to deepen our relationship with God and others through relaxed conversation, study of Scripture, and prayer for one another.
We believe all people in the church are called to live life together regardless of age, race, background, or any other sociological label. Because of this, Heartland’s Life Groups will be organized in two ways: 1) location and 2) affinity.
  • Location: All individuals, couples, and families will be invited into Life Groups based upon their home address. We believe that by organizing in this way, we will have the best opportunity to impact our respective neighborhoods for Christ. Neighborhood Life Groups are the primary vehicle for our ongoing life together.
  • Affinity: We acknowledge that certain areas of life that demand tailored instruction/counsel (e.g., gender, age, marital status, parenting, etc.). To meet these needs, specific Life Groups will meet less regularly with their stated affinity in mind (e.g., a men’s life group will focus on issues related to Christian men). These groups are to be in addition to, not a replacement of, the regular Life Groups. All Life Groups will always remained focused on Christ first.
Typically, Life Groups meet in a home for 1.5-2 hours every other week. In their time together, they share a meal, discussion, and pray for one another. They actively serve their neighborhood and/or community from time to time. Children are encouraged to accompany their parents to Life Groups. This is a beautiful opportunity for kids to catch how Christian adults interact, study, and pray together.
You can become part of a Life Group at any time. If you are interested in joining a Life Group please contact the church office at 319-665-5607 or
